celebration #2!

since today was nola's real birthday, we wanted to celebrate again. mema was home from work today and the girls took a trip to a crafts store for some goodies, then came home to eat lunch and give nola a taste of her first milkshake (she loved it!).

once zane got home, he started the grill and we had my parents over for a birthday dinner: swordfish, chicken, hot dogs and lots of extras. avery helped me make a little cake for nola, and with the extra cake mix we made cupcakes. again, nola wouldn't touch the cake. again, she slammed her cup in it instead and drank her water with gusto ;)

after lots of good food, we opened presents and had wrestling matches. the favorite gift was from mema-a can of gerber veggie snacks. both girls went nuts for them, but nola especially could not stop coming back for more! who knew? books? stuffed animal? dvds? balls? nah, hand me the veggie snacks.

it was a truly wonderful day, celebrating the first year of a truly wonderful little girl. (i can't be too sentimental in this post, because every time i've thought of the fact that it's actually her FIRST BIRTHDAY, i get all teary and want to crawl under the covers. i thought i was doing fine! but last night it really hit me and it's been hard...)

tomorrow's post promises to be more personal and gushy. it can't stay inside for long ;)

What a great day of celebration... are they the veggie crunchies? Anya loves the cheese and also the veggie dip crunchie snacks by Gerber. They look like little cheese doodles lol. Can't wait to hear your mush.. ;)

I know EXACTLY how you feel! Madison turned one on 4/23 and I still get all teary-eyed if I think about it too much. I will probably cry reading your mushy post :) Paul is already pushing me to get rid of the swing, pack 'n play and all the other baby stuff. It's just soooo hard!

Happy 1st Birthday Nola!!!

Happy 1st Birthday!

I know exactly how you feel too! Know more babies-- just big kids. I am not sure that I am ready for a babyless house.

I'll mush right along with you if you need company! We could be our own 2-person mush-fest.
